Christmas Post

December 24, 2010

I sometimes feel like posting is like preaching… the calendar dictates what you post about. Same goes with preaching.

As we head into this day and tomorrow being Christmas day, I am sure that each one of us will be saying our “Merry Christmas’s” to people and giving gifts. Some of us will sit through that obligated, once a year church service, eat lots of food we shouldn’t and maybe even read through the story of Jesus being born.

As I have been thinking about Jesus coming, what Christmas is all about, I have had this thought in my brain…

I am thankful that God is a sending God.

He sent Christ.

Christ willingly sends Himself, to the earth, to the cross and then back to heaven.

All making a way so that Christ could send us to heaven to spend eternity in heaven, in relationship with the Father.

Merry Christmas.

Remember that if God never sent, if Jesus never went, there would be nothing to celebrate.

First time back on your site since we met in Miami, Ben. So nice to read your thoughts and challenges. I, too, am thankful that God is, by nature, GIVING. He GIVES Himself, He forGIVES us, and He continuously GIVES us all things that pertain to life and godliness (II Peter 1:3-4). Peace and love to you and Abi!

This is a week late, but what a great thought! Elegant prose.
