A Godly Woman

November 17, 2010

Last week I did a post about being a man that got some very candid responses. That post was taken from a sermon I did recently at youth group. So after talking about what it is to be a Godly man, it would only be fair to preach on what it takes to be a Godly woman. With both of these posts I believe that there can be special circumstances where some of these things don’t happen, but as a general point I believe that the Bible is very clear on what God expects out of men and women. Today we will talk to the women…here we go.

There are many examples of Godly women through out the Bible but I thought we would look at Proverbs 31. This is a chapter that I have prayed over my wife even before I met her. It’s a great outline to use when looking to become a Godly woman.

Proverbs 31:10-31

  • Finding a good wife/ women is better than finding riches. This means being a Godly woman is better than riches. A Godly woman is valuable.
  • A Godly woman is trust worthy.
  • She is organized, knows where she is going and helps her household get to where they need to be in life.
  • She is not limited to homemaking. She is smart in all things including business, and culture. She is constantly working for the glory of God.
  • She is strong, has integrity, and does not worry about the future.
  • She is well spoken of. Her family and friends have nothing but good things to say about her.
  • She may have charm and such, but over all she fears the Lord and understands the Gospel.

By the way, this passage very much describes my wife and I am very thankful to be married to a Godly woman. Can a brotha’ get an AMEN?!

Haha, anyone have any thoughts?
