You are not better

October 14, 2010

I am glad no one can see you right now (or at least I can’t) as you read this because we are about to have a moment of true honesty. Please raise your hand if you have ever thought you were better than someone else.

“Hands are going up all over, now bow your heads and repeat after me.”

(Oh wait wrong context, its a joke for the comedy people)

But if we were honest wouldn’t we all have our hands raised? And I was thinking, if we’re all sinners is really anyone better than someone else? The answer is no. Even Paul who was like a super Christian explains that being better than everyone else on the outside is nothing compared to knowing Christ.

Philippians 3:4-16 basically says that Paul is the man among men. He is the best of the best. He is better than you, and yet he counts all as loss to know Christ. When you do that, say that it is nearly impossible to think that you are better than someone else.

You see when you understand what Christ has done for you there is not a desire to think that you are better than others. Thoughts?
