Your Role

April 12, 2010

The more I work in ministry or in the work place the more I realize that knowing your role is very important.

Figuring out your role is hard. Staying within that role might be even harder.

To discover our role we must do a number of things:

  1. Humble Ourselves: None of us are as good as we think we are.
  2. Stay Attentive: We will never fully understand what we are to do if our mind is on the future. If I ever fail in this it is because I am looking 4 and 5 steps ahead thinking of how wonderful life is going to be when I learn my role… all the while forgetting to learn my role. Make sense?
  3. Be a Team Player: If you have a role, most likely you are on some sort of team. Whether that is in ministry or the work place, we should always be working for the betterment (I think I made that word up) of the team.

If we want to be good staff members and workers then we must stay in the roles that we are assigned. How do you do that?

Repeat the steps on how to learn your role.

Thoughts? Comments? What are you learning lately.
