Produce Fruit

January 20, 2010

Recently in Velocity (the youth group that I have the privilege of running) we have talked about God’s will and how exactly to know that we are “in it.” You can check out some of what we have already covered by clicking to check out this post.

We will be looking at a third thing that I believe that God has as His divine will for our lives.

Colossians 1:9-12

9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Often times we look for that beam of light to stand under (beam of light representing God’s perfect will), but all the while we look… God’s will is right in front of us… in His word.

The above verse explains that it is God’s will for us to be filled with knowledge and wisdom of Him, so that we can walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. Add to that the fact that we should produce good fruit in every work that we do.

It’s God’s will that we produce good fruit. What does good fruit look like?

Galatians 5:22-24

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Dang I love the Bible.
