Kings and Queens

December 3, 2009

This video is very good. I really enjoyed the creativity. 30 Seconds to Mars is the band. The lyrics are below the video. I would love your thoughts on the video, their world view, and their message they they are screaming.

Into the night
Desperate and broken
The sound of a fight
Father has spoken

We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell

Into your eyes
Hopeless and taken
We stole our new lives
Through blood and pain
In defense of our dreams
In defense of our dreams

We were the Kings and Queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the Children of a lesser God
Between Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell

The age of man is over
A darkness comes and all
These lessons that we learned here
Have only just begun

We were the Kings and Queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the Children of a Lesser God
Between Heaven and Hell

We are the Kings
We are the Queens
We are the Kings
We are the Queens

I know that now I see everything through new eyes since I’ve been saved, but I LOVE this song, and this band in general. This song, and even the band’s name is a rage against ‘this world’ and the technology within it that at times tends to separate us from our own humanity, or in the very least spit out the people who don’t fit the cookie cutter ‘normal’.

I always knew you were cool Ben, but your cool factor went way UP now that I know you are listening to 30 Seconds to Mars. (Not that I know anything at all
about cool, I’m about as geeky as I can get.)

I love their new song “This is War” as well, which is from their new album of the same name. Same kind of vein as this song – fight the powers of this world, Good vs. Evil.

I have searched everywhere to see if indeed this band consists of Christian members but can find nothing of that online. I suspect they are, but even if they are not, their music serves our Lord. These two songs make my soul soar, and invite the Holy Spirit! I like righteous battle music. 🙂 And the band’s logo is a trinity symbol after all. 🙂

I’m all about going to war for the Lord, so I don’t need no stinkin’ wimpy music. *wink* This IS war. 🙂

DISCLAIMER: These ideas are those of Cindy alone and do not represent anyone else, nor were they intended to offend lovers of wimpy music the world over. 😉
