In Full Season

November 30, 2009

We are now into the Holiday Season. From now till New Years America will celebrate numerous holidays from many different cultures. Each culture celebrates their own thing in their own way.

As Christians we have begun to look forward to Christmas, the holiday in which we traditional celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I want to challenge you to not forget what we are celebrating. Don’t get caught up in the materialism of this world. Don’t get caught up in the politics of “KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS!” That is not what this is about.

I think we often forget what it is we are all about, and more than that what Christmas and this season we are celebrating is all about.

CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT HOPE. So in the next several weeks… think about how you can bring hope to your world.

Bringing hope is not yelling at someone in the mall for walking to slow, cutting someone out of a parking space, or correcting someone on Facebook or Twitter for writing “Xmas.”

Bringing hope is showing compassion, turning the other cheek, swallowing pride, being self-less, and telling people about the hope that came so many years ago and that He is still alive and working today.

Bring hope this season.

Great thoughts. I don’t correct anyone if they use “Xmas”, but I honestly feel guilty if I try to do it myself. (Curse you Twitter, and your 140 character limit!) I don’t really have a strong conviction against “Xmas”, but it doesn’t feel right if I write it.
