Life Sucks…

October 28, 2009

I know that the general idea among many evangelical, charismatic Christians that I talk to think that life should be wonderful. It is often preached that if you believe in God you will have a wonderful life. A while ago I wrote a post about God healing people that touched on the topic. You can check that out here.

And I wonder if that is the case, that life is perfect when your a Christian, then why don’t more people follow Christ? I mean if Christ was offering me a house, wife, kids, no debt and perfect health I would always have great faith! (That was a very very sarcastic sentence) But the reality of the Christian life is that life is going to be hard even if you follow Christ.

Why is it that we feel like we are entitled to the things mentioned in the above paragraph?

Here are the facts: God has not promises a life free of pain. Not on this earth.

We mature as Christians when life gets hard and we do not falter in faith and commitment to Christ. The immature Christians will tend waver in what they believe when life gets hard.

And when I say immature, I am not knocking anyone on their faith. We are all working out our Salvation and growing our faith everyday.

The goal is to have a steady relationship with Christ and not let the waves of life dictate how we feel about Christ. I know it’s easier said than done, but still… we have to do it.

Hope this made sense. Glad I got it off my chest.

AMEN!! I am also a strong believer that our primary avenue for growth is “tough” times. This is where the rubber hits the road!
