Our First Night of Velocity

September 11, 2009

I thought I would give everyone who prayed for us a little run down of how our first night of youth group was at our new church. First I want to say thanks to everyone who keeps us in prayer and thought. It has been an extremely emotional few months and we really felt the support of all of you through out.

Our first night was a wild one! Without doing any kind of advertisement really at all we packed the place out with students 6th through 12th grade. The energy was great! You could tell everyone was excited to be there, by the sheer volume in the room! To much surprise we made a number of really good connections with students. If you have ever done youth ministry ever, you know that sometimes students can be closed off to meeting new people… especially adults but that wasn’t the case and we were so thankful!

We are looking forward to our 2nd week this upcoming Wednesday. We really believe that God is going to do some really special things in the lives of our students this year and years to come.

The most outrageous moment was in the picture below… Yes a student came in dressed in drag. No, he does not normally dress like that. The other pictures are some shots my friend Steve took, he is an amature photographer. You can check his shots out on his Flickr here.
