The New Face of the Church?

June 4, 2009

I have had a thought in my mind for a few years now actually that until last week I have never put any of those thoughts on “proverbial” paper. And that thought is this: WHAT WILL THE CHURCH LOOK LIKE IN 5 TO 10  YEARS?

I have a number of different questions that come to mind, a few of those are these:

  1. Will the multi- generational churches still exist?
  2. Will suits and wearing dress clothes ever disappear?
  3. What will the music sound like in the future?
  4. Do small groups still have a place 5 to 10 years from now?
  5. Who is going to be leading in the next 5 to 10 years? Will it be those who are in their 40’s who are leading now? Or will it be those who are in their mid 20’s who are up and coming?
  6. Can mega churches stand and be effective in the future? Or at some point do they peek and start to die off?
  7. Will the Church ever ever not worry about education and see the heart of a person and let them lead? ( I am pro education relax)
  8. Which major denomination will take the lead in reaching the future? Will it be yours?
  9. What will church planting look like? Will it still be the cool thing to do?
  10. What involvement will the internet play in the church? Can we have church on-line or have small groups on-line?

I would love your involvement in answering some of these questions. I have a second post coming. Stay tuned!

In 10 years, those in their 20’s will think you are no longer relevant. They will be annoyed at your antiquated ideas and poo-poo your ‘conservative’ ideas. They will long to change the world with their new and innovative ideas. They will want you to step aside so that they can do so. If you think something is ‘cool’ they will go the other direction.

    *grin*

I love you Ben. But some things never change. And as long as we’re still worshing the Lord God Almighty and his glorious Son I’ve got no problems with any changes that take place.
