No Line On The Horizon

March 6, 2009

I bought the new U2 album on March 3rd the release date. I have been a fan of U2 for as long as i can remember listening to music. After listening to the album (3x through) I realized that U2 is not quenching my musical taste anymore. I listened to No Line On The Horizon the first time I knew that it was not going to satisfy, but because I am a true fan I gave it a chance. This album is classic U2. Reminds me a lot of The Joshua Tree ( one of the greatest rock albums of all time), which was really the album that put U2 on the scene.

Remember when you were little you had the ring filled with water that you cut your teeth on? That is kind of how U2 is now to me. They helped me get into music, cut my teeth so to speak but now I am looking for something more, something better, something more cutting edge. I will always remeber that ring that I cut my teeth on, in the same way U2 will always stay classic for me. (Anyone else follow that analogy?)

I have a lot of respect for Bono and U2. All the same, nothing on this CD has grabbed me. It is my opinion that this isn’t close to being U2’s best and certainly pales in comparison to their last two albums.
