Temptation P1

October 30, 2008

Last night I spoke about focusing on Jesus and avoiding the temptation that life throws at you. I talked about how to practically focus on Jesus and as you do that temptation is easier to resist.

I think sometimes people fall into the trap of “I can never be as good as the pastor” or “I can never be as focused on Jesus as much as my small group leader“, so they accept falling into temptation.

People lose their focus when they accept that their temptation is greater than the power of God that is inside them.

1 Corinthians 10:12-13 talks about how there is no temptation that is not common to man. Meaning that there is nothing  you are going to face that Jesus and the person next to you doesn’t understand.

We can all identify with temptation; we are all facing the same things (this is important for later). But in the next statement the writer talks about how God is faithful to give us the power to with stand the temptation that life throws at us. It says that God will make a way of escape when we are tempted.

Those verses give us the confidence to focus and over come temptation.

Dear Ben, I actually read these.
    You’re welcome!
    Sincerely,

P.S. I kinda almost look up to you I guess.
